Why does my TikTok download still have a watermark?

Videos saved with TikTok's own Save video button always carry the watermark. With PocketTok, a watermark only appears on the rare post where TikTok offers nothing but the watermarked file.

Can I remove the watermark from a video I already saved?

Why TikTok videos have a watermark

The video you watch inside TikTok has no watermark. TikTok adds one only to the copy you download with Share › Save video: the TikTok logo, which jumps from one corner to another halfway through, the creator's @username, and an end screen with TikTok's branding. It credits the creator and advertises TikTok wherever the video is reposted.

So the clean video already exists. It's the one TikTok streams to its own app. To download a TikTok without the watermark, you save that file instead of the one the Save video button makes.

Method 1: Paste the link into PocketTok's downloader

The quickest way, on any phone or computer, with nothing to install:

In TikTok, tap Share on the video, then Copy link.
Open the PocketTok TikTok downloader and paste the link into the box.
Check the preview and tap Download MP4.

It downloads the file TikTok plays in its own app, so the video has no logo, no username and no end screen. The file lands in your Downloads folder (on iPhone: Files › Downloads).

Method 2: The PocketTok app

If you save TikToks often, the PocketTok app for iPhone, iPad and Android skips the copy and paste. It saves the same clean file, keeps it in a library you can search, and on iPhone adds it to Photos in one tap.

Install PocketTok from the App Store or Google Play.
In TikTok, tap Share on the video, then Copy link.
Open PocketTok. It finds the copied link and shows the video. Tap Save.
On iPhone or iPad, tap ••• › Download to put the video in Photos. On Android, tap Share to send the file wherever you want it.

A shortcut: in TikTok's share panel, tap More and choose PocketTok. It opens and saves without any copying and pasting.

One honest caveat. For a small number of posts TikTok only hands out the watermarked file. PocketTok then saves that one, because it's the only copy there is.

Method 3: Crop or blur the watermark

Any video editor can crop the edges or blur a corner, but it's a poor fix. The logo moves partway through the video, so you have to crop two corners or blur two places. Cropping cuts off part of the picture, blurring leaves a smudge, and the end screen is still there to trim off. You also lose quality every time the video is exported again.

A word on other download websites

What about your own TikToks?

If it's a video you made, the original is often still in your camera roll or in your TikTok drafts, and that copy is the best one you'll get. For videos you've already posted and no longer have, PocketTok saves your public post like any other.
